Just received your plants?

Carefully open the packaging, being mindful not to disturb the plants inside or damage the roots and gently unwrap each plant, taking care of any delicate stems or leaves.

For plants with roots wrapped in a moisture retaining medium, ensure the medium is moistened before gently unwrapping the roots before planting.

Remember, your plants have been on a long journey so may need a little love straight out of the box – should the soil appear dry or the plants a little tired, don’t worry, simply rest their roots in water or sprinkle with water to give them a helping hand.

Choose a suitable location for your plants, considering the specific requirements of each variety. Some plants prefer full sunlight, while others thrive in partial shade – your plant will come with specific advice

Prepare the planting area by removing any weeds or debris and loosening the soil with a garden fork or trowel, dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball of each plant. Place the plant in the hole, ensuring that the top of the root ball is level with the soil surface

Backfill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the plant to eliminate air pockets. Water the newly planted plants thoroughly to settle the soil and promote healthy root establishment.

Regular and adequate watering is crucial, especially during dry periods. Check the soil regularly by inserting your finger into the soil about an inch deep – if it feels dry, it’s time to water.

Plants generally benefit from regular fertilisation. Follow the specific fertiliser guidance for each plant type or consult expert advice. We have lots of great expert advice on My Garden Escape

Trim any dead or damaged leaves or stems to encourage new growth and maintain the plant’s overall health. Regularly remove spent flowers to promote continued blooming

Monitor your plants for any signs of pests or diseases. If you notice any issues, promptly address them using appropriate treatments
